Fort Lauderdale - The City of Fort Lauderdale, in consultation with the Broward County Health Department, has lifted the precautionary health advisory for inland recreational waters in the Seminole Canal.  Bacteriological test results indicate that the Seminole Canal is clear for fishing, swimming, jet skiing, and other water-related activities.

Residents and businesses located on the following streets whose properties abut the Seminole Canal may resume water-related activities in the canal:

  • Northern boundary: S.E. 15th Street
  • Southern boundary: S.E. 16th Street and Portside Drive
  • Western boundary: Cordova Road
  • Eastern boundary: Intracoastal Waterway

The precautionary health advisory was issued following an internal overflow of treated wastewater that occurred at the George T. Lohmeyer Wastewater Treatment Plant on Sunday, October 30th.
