City of Fort Lauderdale Issues Precautionary Advisory Against Use of Inland Recreational Waters Near Southeast Fort Lauderdale

AUGUST 19, 2011 - CORDOVA ROAD SEWER REPAIR UPDATE: The City of Fort Lauderdale has successfully shut down the 54" sewer line. Water flow is bypassing the broken 54" sewer line and is flowing directly into the George T. Lohmeyer Wastewater Treatment Plant. An estimated time for repair is still being determined; however, City crews will remain working in the area until the repair is complete.
Local businesses in the immediate area will be open, but should be accessed via S.E. 10th Avenue.
Citizens may resume normal water use; however, the precautionary health advisory is still in effect for the following neighborhoods:
1. Harbor Beach
2. Harbor Drive
3. Harbordale
4. Harbour Inlet
5. Lauderdale Harbours
6. Rio Vista
Citizens should avoid any water-related activities, such as fishing, swimming or jet skiing, in the recreational waters in these neighborhoods.
This advisory will be in effect until further notice.
Fort Lauderdale - The City of Fort Lauderdale, in consultation with the Broward County Health Department, is advising the public of sewage contamination in the recreational waters in parts of the following neighborhoods:
1. Harbor Beach
2. Harbor Drive
3. Harbordale
4. Harbour Inlet
5. Lauderdale Harbours
6. Rio Vista
