Fort Lauderdale - The City of Fort Lauderdale has launched LauderServ, a free application for Android-based mobile devices that offers on-the-go access to the City’s 24-hour Customer Service Center. LauderServ, which may be downloaded for free from the Android Market at https://market.android.com/search?q=lauderserv&so=1&c=apps, is quick and easy to use. Android mobile device users simply download and install the application, enter their contact information, set their location, snap a picture, and submit their report. Once a report is submitted, LauderServ immediately routes it to a City of Fort Lauderdale Customer Service professional who will respond to it within one business day.
LauderServ may be used to submit service requests or to report non-emergency issues, such as graffiti, litter, potholes, damaged sidewalks, clogged storm drains, broken streetlights, etc. It may also be used to share compliments or make suggestions for improving the City. In addition, LauderServ may be used to make general inquiries, such as, “What are my sanitation pick up days?” or “Where can I pay my utility bill?” The application also has several customer service-friendly features. LauderServ:
- Makes the City of Fort Lauderdale more accessible to citizens.
- Interfaces with Google Maps and GPS technology to automatically detect report location information.
- Provides the option of attaching photos to reports.
- Offers categories to streamline reports to help ensure information gets to the appropriate department.
- Provides users with the flexibility to customize each report.
- Connects citizens to the City!
The City of Fort Lauderdale is committed to continually developing innovative ways to engage and assist citizens, especially through new and expanding technologies. The LauderServ Android application is the most recent addition to the City’s “customer service anytime, anywhere” strategy, which includes providing assistance through electronic and mobile technologies and resources. LauderServ not only enables citizens to mobily connect to Fort Lauderdale for the assistance they need, it stimulates collaborative relationships between them and the City to create safer, more sustainable communities.
LauderServ should not be used to report emergencies. In the event of any emergency, please dial 911. In addition, LauderServ should not be used to report time-sensitive issues such as broken water lines, sewer overflows, and other safety hazards. These issues should be immediately reported by calling the City’s 24-hour Customer Service Center at 954-828-8000.
The LauderServ application was developed by the City of Fort Lauderdale using a combination of custom and open-source program code. For more information about the application’s development or to review source code acknowledgements, please visit www.fortlauderdale.gov/lauderserv.
