Fort Lauderdale - Now through August 3, 2011, members of the public are encouraged to participate in the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Visioning Initiative by voting for their favorite project name on the City’s website at www.fortlauderdale.gov/visioning.
The City initially launched a naming contest earlier this month, when members of the public were asked to submit potential names for the Visioning Initiative. More than 100 entries were received. With input from the Visioning Committee, the list was narrowed down to the following top four choices:
- Fort Lauderdale, Forward Focused
- Vision Fort Lauderdale – Dream It, Do It!
- Fort Lauderdale – Our City, Our Vision
- Fort Lauderdale – Future In Focus
Now it’s time for the public to pick the winning entry. The winner will be announced in August and the name selected will be used for Fort Lauderdale's citywide Visioning Initiative.
The Fort Lauderdale City Commission established the volunteer Visioning Committee to spearhead the initiative, which seeks to outline a vision for Fort Lauderdale’s future. The Committee’s charge is two-fold: to reach out to the community to seek input on the vision for Fort Lauderdale from all individuals, including those that are under-represented; and to use the information obtained to craft a citywide vision that reflects the viewpoints of all stakeholders and will guide the City Commission in their future policy and decision making.
Members of the public will have numerous opportunities to participate in the Visioning process by attending upcoming public meetings, to be announced later this summer.
