Now through July 31

Fort Lauderdale - Preparing to go back to school can be a source of anxiety for any child. For children who have been abused, neglected and deprived of resources, the levels of stress and the emotional challenges are even more extreme.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue invites residents and businesses to participate in a Back to School Drive to benefit Kids In Distress (KID). Donations will help to ease the stress and give our local children a healthy boost of confidence and the tools they need for a successful start to this new school year.

SUGGESTED DONATIONS FOR AGES 5-17:

  • Financial Assistance (checks made payable to Kids in Distress)
  • Gift Cards
  • New Clothing
  • New Sneakers
  • Backpacks
  • School Supplies

Kids In Distress is a nationally accredited, community-supported agency based in South Florida, specializing in children and families. KID prevents child abuse, preserves families and treats children who have been abused and neglected.

For more information, please contact Driver-Engineer/Paramedic Joshua Wells at 954-868-2240.

Donations are being accepted at any Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue Station from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, now through July 31, 2011.
