City of Fort Lauderdale Traffic Advisory for the "March for Cancer 5K Run & Walk"

Sunrise Boulevard and A1A traffic impact on Saturday, March 5, 2011

Fort Lauderdale - The City of Fort Lauderdale reminds residents and visitors that the March for Cancer 5K Run and Walk will take place along Fort Lauderdale Beach on Saturday, March 5. The event will impact traffic on East Sunrise Boulevard and A1A from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

There will be intermittent road closures at the entrance to Birch State Park and E. Sunrise Boulevard as well as E. Sunrise Boulevard and A1A. These closures will be for short periods to facilitate getting the runners through these areas.

There will be lane closures for northbound and southbound median lanes of A1A from E. Sunrise Blvd to Cortez Street. Traffic will be permitted to flow in the northbound and southbound curb lanes.

Motorists will experience heavy traffic and congestion along A1A and are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays until 9:30 a.m.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department will have over 30 department personnel stationed along the event route to guide pedestrians and motorists and ensure public safety.
