Fort Lauderdale - Road construction on portions of Sistrunk Boulevard in the City of Fort Lauderdale is scheduled to begin on January 3, 2011. The work is part of the Sistrunk Boulevard Infrastructure project, a major capital improvement initiative to upgrade and enhance Sistrunk Boulevard from Federal Highway to N.W. 24 Avenue.

As part of the construction project, the following traffic restrictions will be in effect:

  • Sistrunk Boulevard will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction between N.W. 19 Avenue and N.W. 24 Avenue.
  • Sistrunk Boulevard will be closed between Andrews Avenue and N.E. 3 Avenue. Motorists will be detoured around the closure via N.E. 7 Street (north) and N.E. 5 Street (south).

Construction work in these sections of Sistrunk Boulevard is expected to continue through July 2011.

Local access will be maintained during construction and businesses in the affected areas will remain open. Signs will be posted to alert motorists of the traffic restrictions. Motorists should expect delays in and around the affected areas. Motorists are reminded to travel slowly in the work zones to ensure the safety of workers, pedestrians and other motorists.
