Fort Lauderdale - The NFL is sponsoring a free Super Bowl Saturday concert at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park, 1100 Seabreeze Boulevard (formerly known as South Beach Park) on Saturday, February 6, 2010.
Organizers anticipate a crowd in excess of 30,000 for the event.
Gates open at 4p. The concert begins at 6p. Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Barenaked Ladies and O.A.R. are scheduled to perform. Following the concert, fireworks are scheduled for 9:40p. The event concludes at 10p.
Traffic Advisory:
Motorists are advised that a high volume of traffic and long delays may be expected on all barrier island roadways, especially A1A and Seabreeze Boulevard. Delays may also be expected on the 17th Street Causeway and Las Olas Boulevard.
Road closure: SE 5th Street will be closed all day on Saturday, February 6.
Lane closure: The east lane of A1A northbound will be closed from Fort Lauderdale Beach Park to D.C. Alexander Park (SE 5th Street) to accommodate shuttle bus loading from 9p to midnight.
To ensure public safety, law enforcement officers will be stationed throughout the area to guide pedestrians and motorists.
Parking Advisory:
Concert organizers and the NFL purchased all spaces in the Fort Lauderdale Beach Park Parking Lot and most other spaces located throughout the barrier island.
Remaining parking on the barrier island is extremely limited. Concert guests are urged to park in downtown Fort Lauderdale and take advantage of the free shuttle service to and from the concert venue on Fort Lauderdale Beach.
On Saturday, from 12 noon to 12 midnight, 75 buses will run continuously to shuttle guests to and from downtown to the concert site.
The following parking areas are offering a $10 flat rate for parking from 12 noon, Saturday, February 6 to 2 am, Sunday, February 7:
- City Park Garage, 155 SE 2nd Street
- Sun-Sentinel, 200 E. Las Olas Boulevard
- Bank of America, 212 SE 2nd Avenue
- One River Plaza, 305 South Andrews Avenue
- 200 Brickell Centre, 200 Brickell Avenue
- Las Olas Centre, 350 E. Las Olas Boulevard
- Las Olas Centre, 450 E. Las Olas Boulevard
- Broward County Garage, 151 SW 2nd Street
- County Lot II, 6 SW 1st Street
Free Shuttle Service:
Once parked at any downtown parking garage or lot, guests can follow directional signage to the free shuttle bus-loading zone located at 150 SE 1st Avenue, on the east side of the Broward County Public Library (between Las Olas Boulevard and Broward Boulevard). Shuttle buses will transport guests to the SE 5th Street drop-off at the Beach (D.C. Alexander Park). Law enforcement officers will assist guests crossing A1A at SE 5th Street. Guests will walk a few blocks south to the concert at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park.
Following the event, guests will board shuttles from the east lane of A1A northbound in front of D.C. Alexander Park. Shuttles will return guests to their original departure point at SE 1st Avenue.
Sun Trolley:
The Sun Trolley will continue to operate on its two regularly scheduled routes linking downtown, the convention center and the beach. Effective now through Sunday, two additional trolleys have been activated along those routes to reduce wait time and accommodate a high volume of riders. Trolleys are scheduled to run every 30 minutes.
