City of Fort Lauderdale Traffic Advisory for the Publix Family Fitness Weekend

Fort Lauderdale – The City of Fort Lauderdale reminds visitors and residents that the Publix Family Fitness Weekend will be held July 17-19 at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park in Fort Lauderdale. The Triathlon Series is scheduled to begin on Saturday, July 18 at 7 a.m. Residents and visitors should be advised of the following traffic advisory due to the bicycle segment of the triathlon.
Traffic Advisory
- The entrance area for Hugh Taylor Birch State Park on E. Sunrise Boulevard to A1A will be closed from approximately 7 to 7:30 a.m.
- A1A will be reduced to one northbound and one southbound lane from E. Sunrise Boulevard to Mayan Drive from approximately 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.
- Motorists should expect delays at the two designated turnarounds, which are A1A and Mayan Drive, and A1A and N.E. 21st Street from approximately 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department will have more than 50 officers and public service aides stationed along the route to guide bicyclists, pedestrians and motorists to ensure public safety. Affected area roadways will re-open to traffic as the race progresses and safety permits.
