As part of the State of the City Address and City Advisory Board Reception, guests will receive a firsthand look at the Lauderdale Marine Center, one of the premier marine industry facilities in the nation.
The marine industry is vital to the economic success of the City of Fort Lauderdale and South Florida. Locally, the marine industry accounts for 134,000 jobs and has an economic impact of nearly $11 billion. Fort Lauderdale continues to invest in this important economic engine. Enhancements are being made at the City’s three municipal marinas and a feasibility study is underway to improve navigability of the New River. Most recently, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection certified the City’s three public marinas as “Clean Marinas,” a designation reserved for only 10% of Florida’s 2,000 marinas.
Lauderdale Marine Center, the largest marine repair facility in the United States, is a premier, all-inclusive, 50-acre complex designed to meet the needs of the world's most discerning yachtsmen, captains and crew. The facility features an immense boatyard that can accommodate vessels up to 180 feet along with more than 3,300 feet of riverfront dockage, 125 floating slips, 29 mega yacht berths, and all of the necessary resources to repair, refit or refurbish luxury yachts. Lauderdale Marine Center is also home to numerous on-site independent craftsmen, full marina facilities, an office complex, and service centers for several prominent yacht builders including Fairline, Sunseeker and Vicem.
