Sistrunk Parade and Festival Hits 6th Street

Fort Lauderdale – The City of Fort Lauderdale is pleased to partner with the Sistrunk Historical Festival for the Sistrunk Parade and Festival scheduled for this weekend, Saturday, February 28, 2009 from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm along the Sistrunk Corridor. The Sistrunk Parade begins at 9:00 am at the Mount Olive Baptist Church located at 400 NW 9th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33311 and ends at 11:00 am in Delevoe Park.
The Sistrunk Parade and Festival routes require the closing of several streets Saturday, February 28, 2009.
Closures and times are as follows:
- NW 9th Avenue will be closed beginning at 7:00 am - only parade participants will be allowed entrance
- NW 6th Street will be closed at 8:00 am
- NW 6th Street will be closed at 24th Avenue from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm
- NW 22nd Avenue to NW 24th Avenue will be closed at 7:00 am
- NW 4th Street will be closed at 8th and 9th Avenues from 7:00 am to noon
- NW 5th Street will be closed from 7th Avenue to 9th Avenue from 7:00 am to noon
- NW 6th Street will be closed from 22nd Road to 22nd Avenue from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
- NW 6th Court will be closed from 24th Avenue to 22nd Avenue from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
- The Broward Sherriff’s Office will close NW 27th Avenue eastbound from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm
Residents in Sweeting Estates will be detoured southbound on NW 23rd Avenue and will exit on NW 21st Terrace and be directed eastbound.
Residents north of NW 6th Street will be detoured northbound on NW 22nd Road towards Sunrise Boulevard.
Any resident interested in being a vendor will need to register with the Sistrunk Historical Festival, Inc.
