Fort Lauderdale Celebrates Black History Month with Kijiji Moja

Fort Lauderdale – The City of Fort Lauderdale will host the annual Kijiji Moja celebration in recognition of Black History Month on Saturday, February 21, 2009 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Carter Park, 1450 W. Sunrise Boulevard.

Kijiji Moja, which means “one village” in Swahili, is a fun family event featuring ethnic crafts, storytelling and live stage performances. Featured performers include Mocko Jumbie Stilt Dancers, Ballet Brika, and poetry by Sista Vanya. A number of school and neighborhood groups will also perform.
