First City to Have More Than Two Marinas Designated Clean Marina

Fort Lauderdale - It became official on September 10, 2008 -- the third City marina was designated as a Clean Marina by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Now, New River Marina/Downtown Docking can join the ranks of Las Olas Marina and Cooley’s Landing Marina as an official Clean Marina!
 What does being a Clean Marina mean? It means that each marina has instituted sound environmental practices, encouraged proper boating habits and promoted clean waterways. It means that the marine facilities have demonstrated a commitment to environmentally friendly policies that go above and beyond standard regulatory requirements which places the City marinas among only 10% of Florida’s 2,000 marinas that have been certified as Clean Marinas.
The City of Fort Lauderdale takes its responsibility to protect the environment, maintain clean waterways, and as the “Yachting Capital of the World,” to ensure that our fragile aquatic ecosystems are preserved now and in the future.
The City is thrilled to announce that a Clean Marina Designation Ceremony has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 11 AM at the Las Olas Marina located at 240 E. Las Olas Circle, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Local and state dignitaries will be on hand to celebrate such an illustrious honor.
