The City of Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department has hundreds of opportunities to coach, teach, lead, help our environment, and assist with exciting events. If you have the time, we can use your talent. Volunteer opportunities range from mentoring young people to assisting with clerical tasks. Students can learn important job skills and enjoy the outdoors while fulfilling volunteer requirements for school.

Becoming a Volunteer
Step 1 -- Application Process
- Application form
 is filled out and turned into facility to which applicant is
applying.
- Prospective volunteer is fingerprinted and information from state-issued identification is entered into the VECHS system.
Step 2 -- Screening Process
- Background check is performed.
- Cleared applicants are notified on when and where to go to get
Official Volunteer Identification Badge.
- Applicants not accepted are notified and can refer to the City of Fort
Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department Volunteer Background
Screening Policy to start the appeal process, if so desired.
Step 3 -- Placement Process
- Once I.D. badge is issued, the volunteer is notified of placement
time and facility.
