Information Regarding Street Closures in the City of Fort Lauderdale
Sistrunk Boulevard Infrastructure Project
A major capital improvement project to upgrade infrastructure and beautify Sistrunk Boulevard is now underway. This construction work will affect traffic in the area.
- Sistrunk Boulevard is reduced to one travel lane in each direction between NW 9th Avenue and NW 24th Avenue.
- Sistrunk Boulevard (NE 6th Street) is closed between Andrews Avenue and Federal Highway. Motorists are being detoured around the closure via NE 7th Street (north) and NE 5th Street (south).
Signs will continue to alert motorist of the traffic restrictions and detours. Motorists are reminded to travel slowly in the work zone to ensure the safety of workers, pedestrians and other motorists.
Traffic Patterns Change on NW 6th Street
Motorists will experience a change in traffic patterns on NW 6 Street
from Andrews Avenue to NW 9 Avenue. Two lanes of traffic in each
direction will be reduced to one lane in each direction with occasional traffic delays.
- Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be reduced to one lane in each direction on NW 6 Street
from Andrews Ave to NW 9 Ave to facilitate roadway improvements.
- Signs will be in place to alert motorists of traffic restrictions in the impact area.
- Electronic arrow boards and barricades will be in place to guide motorists throughout the
impact area.
- Motorists are reminded to travel slowly in the work zone to ensure safety of workers,
pedestrians, and other motorists.
Traffic pattern changes on NW 6 Street are expected to continue through summer 2012. Motorists and residents will continue to have access to businesses within
the immediate impact area throughout the construction period. We thank you

>> US 1 from SE 17th Street to Broward Boulevard & Henry E. Kinney Tunnel in Fort Lauderdale:
- Southbound US 1 traffic is shifted to the east at the Tarpon River Bridge, between SE 8 Street and SE 10 Court. During this traffic shift left turns will not be allowed from southbound US 1 onto Ponce de Leon Drive through early March.
>> All boat traffic using the Tarpon River between 9th Avenue and 4th Avenue will be restricted due to bridge maintenance on US1 until spring 2012. Boat traffic will still have access to the Intracoastal Waterway during bridge maintenance and can come within a 100 feet of the bridge.
